You know more than you think you do!

Today I want to talk about learning something, and even experiencing it, yet not owning it as something you are personally able to teach or tell about.

This is another personal struggle of mine.

A Limiting Belief

In general, I would say that this is another MAJOR thing that holds people back from chasing a dream or confidently doing something they love.

Without the confidence that you are adequate for sharing information you personally have learned about – you aren’t able to be useful in serving others.

Whether you don’t feel capable of coaching others, or getting a job in that field, or mentoring someone – you likely are!

Learn > Grow > Share

When you learn something or experience something, you need to be able to OWN that thing. Realize that what you know, and what experience you have is an ASSET.

Just because you aren’t the “best in the world” at something, does not mean you are not capable of helping someone that knows slightly less than you. That is YOUR powerful position.

If you have more experience or knowledge in an area than a certain group of people, you ARE in a position to help. Your skills and experience can be used to educate, encourage, or equip others.

Don’t let imposter syndrome limit you.

Without confidence in yourself, how will you help others?

Questions for You

If you struggle with owning your expertise:

  • How long have you been doing your thing?
  • What experience do you have in this field?
  • How far have you come since first learning this thing?
  • How can you use the things you now know, to answer the questions you used to ask?
  • What problems did you used to have?
  • What questions did you used to ask?
  • Do you know more on this subject than the average person?
  • Are you able to explain this thing to a beginner?

Answer these questions truthfully, and allow yourself to be encouraged by your expertise.

The truth is – you have a unique perspective and angle on your topic. There is no one that can explain, deliver, or relate like you can.

Learn something. Gain experience in that area. Own that expertise. Track your mistakes and successes. Solve problems you once had. Teach others to do the same.

Find your unique voice. Someone is waiting for it.

Enjoy your Sunday! It’s a beautiful day!
