Learning to believe in yourself.
Happy Saturday to the “Stoked Squad.” I’ve got a simple and sweet one for you all today. Hope this resonates with some of you, especially as we dive into the new year.
Here’s a thought I had as of a couple weeks ago:
“Life is just one big continuous crash course on believing in yourself.
The sooner you believe,
the quicker you’ll achieve.”
Seriously though, every person that I can think of that succeeds in whatever their mission is has one thing in common:
They believe in their craft.
They had the guts to put it out into the world.
They realized they had what it takes to do the thing.
They believed they were capable of making the change.
They trusted their instinct to chase the opportunity.
And I’ve just now been realizing this.
If you believe in yourself from the get go, you’ll have a lot less hoops to jump through.
You hear the story all the time:
The chef that went to school to be a nurse because cooking wasn’t a practical career choice. Only to waste 100k on schooling to change careers after 4 years.
…Now they own a thriving restaurant.
The musician that became an engineer because music was too saturated and hardly sustainable. Only to spend years working long hours away from their family.
…Now they have a loyal fanbase, and a business teaching others to make their own music.
Most people know what they need to be doing.
They just don’t hear what they need to hear from the people that have influence in their lives.
So they take the safe route in order to avoid embarrassment, ridicule, or public failure — only to become miserable living a life they weren’t meant for.
You’re gonna end up doing what you know you should be doing eventually.
You might as well start now so you have more time to fail miserably, improve slightly, and continuously fall more in love with your craft.
Can you imagine getting to the end of your life only to have people finally discover you were an amazing _________?
Because you didn’t believe in yourself, you were too afraid to make it known to others.
You starved the world of your talent or service.
I recently saw this quote from Simon Sinek,
“Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress; working hard for something we love is called passion.”
And I was SHOOK haha! This hit the nail on the head in my own life.
Don’t listen to what amazing plan other people have for your life.
Do what you know you’re meant to do.
Believe in yourself now.
It’ll save a life of regret.
If no one else believes in you – I do.
